Old Fashioned Raisin Bars with Maple Glaze

You know we love our old fashioned recipes and this one is a winner. The recipe we found didn’t have the glaze, this was our addition and we all agreed… the glaze is great. It really does bring out a wonderful taste with the spices and the raisins. This recipe is made with simple ingredients too.

  • All Purpose Flour
  • Baking Soda
  • Salt
  • Ground Cinnamon
  • Allspice
  • Ground Cloves
  • Raisins
  • Water
  • Butter
  • Granulated Sugar
  • Egg
  • Pecans or Walnuts

So many great spices in this and then you add the raisins and this is so good. We always soak the raisins so they are plump and the texture is perfect. Many people don’t like raisins but I have found that if you plump them up and add them to baked goods, many people enjoy them.

Why you will love these bars?

One of the many great things about these bars… no mixer needed! So you won’t be having to wash the mixer, all you need is a spoon and you are set! We love simple recipes that don’t involved a lot of clean up and this is one of those. A lot of the old fashioned recipes you make without a mixer, like this delicious Do Nothing Cake. It’s so simple and has wonderful reviews.

These bars are made in an 9×13 baking pan and perfect to take to any gathering! If you want to make a smaller but similar recipe, you can try this Old Fashioned Raisin Cake. It’s made in a loaf pan and it’s great too.
