Best upcoming Xbox One games to look forward to in 2023

There are amazing games coming out for Xbox One in the coming months. Whether you own an Xbox One S, 4K-ready Xbox One X or one of the new-gen consoles, most games work across them all.

We’ve rounded up the Xbox One games we’re looking forward to the most for you to get excited about too, so if you want some new Xbox games you’ll know where to look.

There are release dates where possible and a trailer for each. We’ll also be updating the round-up throughout the year so come back wherever possible.

Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 25 August 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation and PC
  • Publisher: Bandai Namco

Fighting mechs have been favourites of videogame fans for ages, and the Armored Core series is a giant in that space. Made by Dark Souls creators FromSoftware, it’s a genre full of fast explosive combat.

The latest game in the long-running series comes out pretty soon, and promises more expansive customisation than ever before.

Sea of Stars

  • Release date: 29 August 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation, Switch and PC
  • Publisher: Milestone

We’ve always got time for a great retro-styled RPG, and that’s exaclty what we see in Sea of Stars, which has a gorgeous art style and a really confident way of telling its story.

Having played a demo of the game, we’re hopeful that it could present a pretty compelling storyline and fun combat when it releases.

EA Sports FC 24

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 29 September 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation, Switch and PC
  • Publisher: EA

FC 24 is FIFA by another name – the continuation of EA’s massively long-running football or soccer series, and it doesn’t look any the worse for losing the big license that used to anchor its name.

With more accurate renderings of star players than ever before, animation innovations and some welcome changes to key game modes, it looks like a potential banger.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 5 October 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation and PC
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed is finally back, with a new entry that is going to shrink down its world a little, perfect for those who couldn’t cope with the overwhelming size of Valhalla.

It will centre around ancient Baghdad and present a twisting story of how Basim became a master assassin, and we can’t wait to see what it has in store.

Hot Wheels Unleashed 2: Turbocharged

  • Pre-order: Amazon
  • Release date: 19 October 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation, Switch and PC
  • Publisher: Deep Silver

We didn’t expect much from the first Hot Wheels Unleashed, but it turned out to be an excellent family-friendly racer that oozed style and was confident in its mechanics.

Now we’re getting a sequel and it’s adding new vehicle types, from motorbikes to monster trucks, along with a range of new courses – what more could you want?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

  • Release date: 10 November 2023
  • Exclusive? No, also on PlayStation and PC
  • Publisher: Activision

Call of Duty is back – with another bombastic campaign and deep multiplayer mode to sink into and hone your skills with.

This time we’re taking on famous villain Makarov in a global etfc 24 release spionage battle, but there will also be a new open-world Zombies mode to sink our teeth into – we can’t wait.

Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • Exclusive? No, also PlayStation and PC
  • Publisher: Paradox Interactive

After a decade and a half, we’re finally getting a sequel to Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines. Similarly a first-person RPG, it’ll put you in the shoes of a bloodsucker ready to wreak havoc on mortals and the vampiric alike. We can’t wait.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • Exclusive? No, also PlayStation and PC
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

It’s been more than 15 years since the original game, so this sequel has us excited more than most. We still haven’t seen much of the gameplay yet, but the CGI effects are quite simply jaw-dropping. What’s more, you can have some of your music or artwork included in the game. Find out more at hitrecord.org.
